Mary Ann Stokes

Mary Ann (Barnhart) Stokes 88, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on January 31, 2024, after a long and happy life with family and friends. Mary was born on February 18, 1935, to Lilborn and Lena May Barnhart in Marmaduke, Arkansas.

Starting in elementary school, she was the twinkle in Cecial L. Stokes' eye, and they wed in 1952, going on to have only one child, Teddie. Mary worked various retail jobs in the St. Louis area, and after retiring in 1987, Mary spent all of her time focused on the family, especially her grandson, Sean. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Her favorite pastimes included reading and family celebrations. In 1995, her son relocated to Alabama, and she followed her son and has lived there on a farm ever since.

Mary was predeceased by her mother and father and four brothers. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Cecial; son, Teddie; grandson, Sean; daughter-in-law, Betty; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 9-11 AM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
