Lenda S. Pruett

Lenda Sue (Hudson) Pruett, 80, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community in Franklin, IN.

Born on December 8, 1943, in Success, Arkansas, Lenda was a twin to Glenda Burcham and one of eight children belonging to Clyde Hudson and Wilma Bernice (Green) Hudson.

Lenda later married James Lee Pruett of Paragould, Arkansas, in October 1962. The pair had their first son, James Lee Pruett, Jr., and soon after, welcomed their second son, John Blake Pruett, in 1968.

Known as a fiercely independent woman, Lenda was a well-liked small business owner in southeast Missouri until her retirement in the mid-2000s. She was an antiques enthusiast, a collector of clocks, and a beloved grandmother to her four granddaughters.

Survivors include: her son James Lee “Jim” Pruett, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Helotes, Texas; four granddaughters, Ashley Chapa, Kelsey Pruett-Elrod, Darby Phiilips, and Aribi Pruett; great grandchildren, Zoe Lance, Roland Chapa, Adelyn Phillips, Rosalee Phillips; a sister, Rosetta Hoskins, of Paragould, AR; and a brother, Jimmy Dale Hudson, of Fort Worth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lee Pruett; and her son, John Blake Pruett.

A private graveside service with family and friends will take place at Greene County Memorial Gardens, 2901 Hwy 135 N, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, is handling arrangements.
