Joy Loree Cross passed from this life on February 3, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born in Delaplaine, Arkansas, to the late Victor Crabtree and the late Marie (White) Cross. At 16, she married the love of her life, Leo Cross. They had 61 years together when he passed away in 2010. She was a member of West View Baptist Church.
She was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker who loved her children very much and received great joy from her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and loved hosting her friends and family. No one ever left her home hungry! She enjoyed cross-stitching, reading and canned tons of produce from Leo’s gardens. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals and WWE wrestling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Cross; grandsons, Bryan Cross and Jason Bolton; brothers, Ed and Ben Cross; and bonus sister, Eva McClelland.
She is survived by her brothers, Jack Crabtree and Jimmy (Janice) Cross; sister, Mary Hyman; her children, Brenda (Larry) Singleton, Paragould, Danny (Merry Lee) Cross, Florida, Jerry (Debbie) Cross, Tom (Cindy) Cross and Tim (Lisa) Cross, all of Paragould. Grandchildren: Todd (Tracy) Singleton, Jonathon Singleton, Matthew (Jen) Cross, Timmy L B (Faith) Cross, Kimberly (Will) Mixon and Chris (Jennifer) Cross. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Singleton, Courtney Singleton, Jude, Avery and Max Cross, and Lily and Leo Mixon and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Todd Singleton, Jonathan Singleton, Matthew Cross, Chris Cross, Kyle Singleton, Timmy LB Cross, and Will Mixon will serve as pallbearers. Phillip, Rodney, Bobby and Dale McClelland and Brian Judd will serve as honorary pallbearers.
